About Serene Spirit
The landscape of life can be rugged

The landscape of life can be challenging and rugged. The name Serene Spirit comes from the ideas that no matter how much chaos and crisis there seems to be in life sometimes, the core of our soul always retains its connection with the divine, and by extension, all of creation. And when we know what we love to do and are able to do it, we are living the life we are meant to live and this can bring great joy and serenity.

Business Philosophy

Serene Spirit is dedicated to connecting you with the right approach for you, whether it's individual services, services offered in partnership with others, or referring you to additional options, information, and resources.

It’s important for you to find the best practitioner for you. If that’s not Susan, she is always happy to provide referrals to anyone who’d like to shop around for that perfect match. You will know in your heart and your gut when you have found the right person for you.

Serene Spirit is focused on providing a range of tools and skills that empower people. This means clients are encouraged to immediately apply what they learn, and discover—by their own direct, personal, real life experience—what has the greatest meaning and value for them. Serene Spirit clients are also encouraged to think of coaching as a relatively short-term or intermittent endeavor. Shamanic healing is often only one session.

Guiding Thoughts and Principles

"People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive." Joseph Campbell, in the PBS television series The Power of the Myth.

In addition to happiness and joy, we all experience change, loss, and transition. It’s the choices we make that determine how we come through life’s challenges. Whether we have consciously chosen change or it seems like it has been imposed, we often need to make a focused commitment to continue to regard our world as open and full of possibilities and options, rather than allowing it to contract and feel smaller. And no matter how we feel at any given time, we can take a moment to recall the people, experiences, and things in our lives for which we are grateful.

We will serve ourselves well during times of change if we practice extreme self-care, have confidence in our own resilience, maintain our personal power, and remember to love, learn, laugh, and listen. We are also well supported by learning to say no to everything that no longer serves us so we can say yes to who and what we are here to become.

Each of us must weave the fabric of our own lives. But we are not meant to do it alone. Relationships—connections with ourselves, each other, and spirit—are how we manifest our most marvelous selves. We are magnificent intellectual, emotional, and spiritual creatures—part of an infinite web of life and energy. But sometimes resistance, fear, pain, or other limiting emotions leave us feeling a bit less than divine, not as alive as we would like to be.

Using the tools and resources offered by Serene Spirit, it’s possible that you can quickly experience greater emotional freedom than you might have imagined. You are also likely to become happier, healthier, more productive, and more creative in all that you do.

Every day we are faced with a multitude of choices. Sometimes it’s not a choice between good and great, but between awful and not-quite-so-awful. But it’s still a choice. Whether you are on the crest of a wave of joy, in the trough of a wave of grief and despair, or somewhere in between, remember that you can always choose to love. And you can always start by loving yourself. Oh, you’ve forgotten how? Well then, perhaps one of the first things can be brainstorming marvelous ways for you to love you.
