Welcome to Serene Spirit

Serene Spirit offers services for people experiencing or planning life transitions. These may be challenges with work, relationships, and health. They may also be such things as moving, going back to school, financial changes, and retirement.

Susan Sanford started Serene Spirit to provide Life Coaching and shamanic work that draws from a wide variety of Resources. She coaches via telephone because she has found that clients usually get to the core of things more quickly on the phone than in person. Therefore, it is more efficient and cost-effective for the client. The phone provides a nice balance of connection, privacy, and comfort. And you save the time and energy it would take to be driving and parking. Shamanic work is also often done by distance.

Serene Spirit provides you with tools for transition. Whether your current situation was planned or feels like it was imposed, there are choices to make. In coaching, we begin by assessing things as they are now, then we identify your strengths, needs, and goals for moving ahead. Regularly scheduled coaching calls provide ongoing support. It’s recommended that a one-on-one coaching relationship extend for three to six months, yet much can be gained from just a single session.

Susan earned her life coaching certification through the Institute for Professional Empowerment Coaching. To that foundation she has added resources that include the Authentic Happiness Coaching Program based on academic research in the field of Positive Psychology, and the Sedona Method emotional releasing technique. She is also engaged in the continuing study of shamanism—particularly the common ways in which people across cultures have connected with Spirit for millennia that are distinct from culturally specific rituals.

Clients may choose to integrate Spirit into the coaching process. This can be done in any way that is meaningful to you and may include meditation, prayer, dance or other movement, art, music, shamanic journeys, journal writing, and so on.

Life transitions generally have an aspect of loss—of needing to say good-bye to old ways of being in order to become more of who you’re meant to be. In addition to coaching resources, the Grief Recovery program can be a very helpful tool.
